The purpose of this project was to choose a talk from the previous General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and use it to create a booklet that could be given to a friend or family member. This booklet should be appealing and invite a reader into its pages and content.
The typefaces I've used in this booklet are Baskerville MT Pro and Avenir Next LT Pro, in varying weights and styles.
The talk I chose was Personal Peace in Challenging Times by Elder Quentin L. Cook. This talk addressed things we can do to find personal peace, even during times when life is difficult.
To represent this theme, I chose soft, peaceful colors, and pulled meaningful quotes out of the body to highlight within the pages. To make these quotes stand out, I've used blue, oversized quotation marks to frame them. I've also placed these quotation marks on the front and back cover to create harmony between the inside and outside of the booklet, and tie it all together.
Within the copy in this spread, Elder Cook discusses seeking the fruits of the Spirit, as outlined by the Apostle Paul. To accentuate this point, I've used those "fruits" as a design element within this spread. Again, to tie it all together, I've repeated this element on the front and back cover.
